Illustration Friday: Small (Now with original)

Sketch of wife by Tony Sarrecchia

The first thing I thought of when I saw the theme for Illustration Friday was good things come in small packages. My wife is a good thing (well, great really) and she is small.

Added:

Some of you asked to see the original pencil sketch before I did any Photoshop clean up. The faces in couch as well as the texture came from whatever was on the flip side of the sheet when I scanned it. My wife had been watching TV, but I lost interest in the background once I had completed her and the couch.

Thanks for the feedback.

This is really lovely, Tony! She looks like she's lost in a daydream (maybe thinking of you?)... I really like how you've rendered the different textures and how you've put her partially off the page. What did the background look like before the photoshop?

Thanks for your comment this week..BTW, I usually research my non-literary topics to get the facts straight. I actually learned quite a bit about madolins and lutes as I was gathering information for this week's post!

She looks beautiful- at least from this angle. You've captured her with composition & pose.

hiya toni, funny how my wife is also very petite but I thought of germs.
:)
but then that says more about me than about my wife.
btw. I have borrowed my dog's blogger identity. It's actually scott
anyway I want to see the drawing from before you photoshopped it.
I'm afraid I'm not as keen as some on the textures.
anyhow nice job
love scott

well you sure keep your paper clean tony.
I love the way that the lines of the underlying pattern unite the legs and the couch.
yes I like this more than the photoshopped one
thanks tony, for going to the trouble of putting it up.

This is a very expressive sketch. I especially like the 'faces' on the couch when you look a little closer.
