Illustration Friday: Tattoo
This piece was created completely in Illustrator CS2. I imported a pic of Tatu and did a Live Trace, playing with the settings until I got the look I wanted. Ditto with Tattoo's picture. The text and the Tai Chi symbol were created fresh for this piece.
This is the first piece completed on my new PowerBook G4. Yep, I gave up the PC laptop and joined the cult of the Mac. So far, it has been a Very Good Thing; I am amazed at how easy things work on the Mac (no needing to reset/renew IP configs to plug into the hotel broadband, a nice suite of tools and playthings in the form of iLife, and that Garage Band thing is just too cool). I should have done this years ago.
Of course, my first PC was an Apple //e, so that should count for something.
As always, your comments are appreciated.
Tony

Looks great. I sense the beginning of a beautful relationship. (you and your pc)
love
I like your high contrast black and white design. Nice illo.
Nice,Tony! I always like the look of black/white illos.
Very - very cool! I really love your illustration. I want it to be on a t-shirt so I can wear it! And I have been thinking of switching over to a mac - you made it ever so much more tempting!
Yea Tony you are gonna love your new Mac.
i like what you did in CS2. I am going to have to upgrade my illustrator to CS2 real soon. I could use the live trace feature.
Great job!
It works for me, great contrast and sharp tracing!
Nice!
( Btw, 'Insect' is hilarious...don't know how I missed it :) )
Nice image!!...and, congrats on your new PowerBook!
I work on windows at home, and Macs at work...and, to tell you the truth...I no longer see a difference since WindowsXP! I probably would own a Mac at home if I didn't have to shell out thousands and thousands of dollars in new software...PLUS, I use AutoCAD for my husband's business (no Mac verions). LUCKY!!
Heh. I'm amused. I have Illustrator CS2 at work but I hardly ever do anything in it. I've been a Photoshop guy for too long now.
Also, if you had switched years ago you wouldn't have Garage Band until recently anyway. Welcome to Mac.
Garage band got Jim interested in Macs - thank goodness it also inspired him to buy one and give me mine back....
Love the contrasty black and white you've used here.
Nice, black and white ditto!
nice dad. Great work^^ But how come ya didn't show me BEFORE ya posted it? Nya, whatever. Love ya, dad~
bai~
Unknown: I think you are correct.
Bron, Janet, Ratlion, Queen Tut: Thanks.
Tex: This is really cool machine; everyday I have a 'wow' moment with it. Great Napolean Dynamite impersonation :)
Collin: I used to be the same way: all photoshop all the time. Lately I find myself using PS less and less. Now, if only Adobe would incorporate all that was good with Freehand.
Caroline, String: Thanks.
Tiffinix: Hmmm...I don't know if I could do that since the photos I used are probably undersome copyright. I did change them--but I am not sure how copyright law would treat it.
Toni: Live trace is very cool. You can dl a 30 day trial from Adobe if you just want to play around with it.
Kami, you don't get see all of them first. Not to mention I did this last night while I was in Jersey and you were in Georgia.
Hey, Love your new profile pic!
striking! great take on the topic.
welcome to the world of Mac. I use pcs and a mac at work and have used macs at home for years and find them superior in every way.
First of all...congratulations on coming over the the land of MAc! You'll never go back:> I love the pure graphic look of this piecve...live trace ia such a wonderful tool! Well done:>
'Tattoo' is spelt 'tatu' in Malay language. I love the Live Trace feature in CS2. Too bad I've exhausted my 30-day trial period. Thanks for dropping by my blog.
Ha! Great job. The Russian singing duo crossed my mind... and I was really trying to render the dude from Fantasy Island, but was not satisfied. Cool stuff here.
I like B/W concept and your work is cool.. I too work only in Illustrator CS and I would like to join soon the "MAC club users"!
:)
LOL, you must have fell in MAC love when we were in class a couple weeks ago, you were straddling the line for a bit there.
My PC is probably about 7-8 years old now so I think I will be getting a MAC when the funds surface to allow a replacement. It should be a nice cahllenge to look forward to since turning the wheel on my iPod is about the only times I usually touch Apple products.
Love this MOD look!
I forgot all about Tatu! : )
